The more I think about it, the more I regret my post to you. I feel I've violated your strong personhood---I can't even describe it without spending 2 hours......
I have no business telling anybody, let alone YOU, who are such a thinking human, a feeling and compassionate human, what I think she should do. Please forgive me, and please know I didn't mean to cause hurt.

hen,
you've spoken up over the years when you've felt compelled, or so it could appear to this reader's eyes, and that isn't necessarily a bad thing.
try to insert a little compassion for oneself when feeling regret......use that energy tied up in regret for other things....more positive feeling things....
like forgiving yourself perhaps?
kindly and w/o regret and possibly way off base but there it is!,
