need a headlamp? or lantern? somehow the idea of one handed digging while holding the flashlight seems like an exercise in frustration...then again have never grown potatoes or harvested them...one of those cases of consider the source :p
although it can feel like living under a rock at times there are advantages to not having broadcast (rabbit ears or the sort for reception)tv, cable, satellite, or broadband out in boondocks. lessens the chances of running into strokey bits when one least expects them or can least handle them.
keep on with that compassion for self hen. you're correct that there are many IRL who would be lost w/o your contributions...be they of the relationship variety like a marriage---or family like being an aunt, sister, daughter---or community related like tutoring, or gardening and canning, or being a voice of wisdom, reason, kindness and beauty online.
so dig girl, dig those taters!

I wish I'd read your sage lighting advice sooner. I slipped on a spud in the dark, fell down a groundhog hole, had some very bizarre adventures with some very bizarre kings, queens, executioners, and animals. I'm thinking of writing a little book about it, entitled "Henrietta in Blunderland", but I seem to have a vague memory that somebody once wrote something similar. For now I'm planning to avoid any and all situations that may trigger disconcerting memories of that mind-bending experience---the experience of being engulfed in a crazy-making alternate world of convoluted laws and wigged-out customs.
Thanks again for all your kind words. I'll remember you fondly. hen
