10, 10 I say, time for a 10

Posted by Joan797 on September 27, 2006, at 9:16:43

1. I have a job and no worries with such.

2. I've started working in my yard again, after a year of not........and I like it. Good dirt under your nails hard physical labor.

3. I have some moola to fix up my house....and am getting excited about that.

4. I have friends who love me.....in r/t and here.

5. It's no longer 105+ degrees outside.

6. The last time I had sex, which was recently, I didn't cry. Enjoyed it in fact.

7. The above mentioned was with my spouse.

8. I'm going on a weekend jaunt with my sisters.

9. I'm sleeping better.

10. I'm starting to clean the house up from the past year of not doing so.

Hey Joan, I don't know you either, but thanks for posting this list. One of your items gave me some hope where there isn't much of it today.

(I drafted a reply to your other post but deleted it. As far as I know, a mutual friend we have on your list is "ok")

take care,
butterfly

I remember you well enough to say I wish you still ended your posts with "Fondly" I loved that, it was your own, it made me smile each time I read it.

I remember the first time you did one of these, I thought it was slightly cheezy, reminded me of the homework I was given my a former T.........but now I like it. Not just to say 10 things I feel good about, but even to list 10 things to start conversations.

Well, let's see, I pulled weeds to start off, a whole summer's worth of weeds. I got two small flower beds taken care of, and eventually will get the others. Ummm I trimmed bushes & trees so that the back yard doesn't look like a jungle anymore, and oh yeah, I mowed the yard. It's unbelievable what disrepair my outdoors and indoors fell into while I was away taking care of the dying.

New bathroom tile and shower, replace the carpet throughout with either tile or hardwood, new paint, fixing the holes in the sheetrock of course, totally deep cleaning everything, and hopefully finishing the basement with a few walls for a bedroom and bathroom and living room.

That should just about eat up the dough. However, I am having trouble getting motivated on that simply because the ones who got this house in the shape it's in are still living in it, and therefore I'm having trouble convincing myself it would be worth it to fix things. Mainly I want to do it because my home is all I have that is truely mine and the one thing that keeps me coming back everyday, and I want to be proud of it again, instead of dreading seeing it like it is now.

Lovely to chat with you...........hope you are doing well.

Joan

Joan, you sound like you're doing really well! Keep up the good work (whatever you're doing!!)

I have a list of 10 also, but I think I will post on self-esteem board in a bit.

Glad to hear some cheer

Phil, that's one of the sweetest posts I've read in a long time. Thank you for sharing :) I needed a little bit of that.
