I've been speaking with my son every day on the phone. It's hard to be half a country away! How I'd love to give him a hug!!!!!!!!!
Today he said that he has realized that the voices arrive after he's scared, anxious, nervous, upset - so he'll go to the nurse & get a small amount of meds THEN because if he waits until the voices are there, they don't go away.
He's wondering about drug-induced psychosis versus is he schizophrenic. He's wondering, I think, about the meds taking this long to work.
I'm going to post on another board to see if anyone has any experience about this type of thing. Not sure which board is best.
Wonder how they decide when to have him leave the hospital. I hope they keep him in until the medicine has gotten rid of the voices and the 'paranoia/GF & I are in danger' stuff is gone.
Anyone have any experience about when they release people?

Kath post it on the main meds board psychobabble. Do you know the name of the meds they are giving him as you should post them also. I'm glad he's doing better and doubt they will release him til the voices are under control. Love Jan

yesterday I spoke with his doctor on the phone. They had slightly upped his dose of meds & he was doing WAY better. He was confidently going out of his ward on what they call a "pass" into other areas of the hospital.
Talked with GF who'd spoken to him on the phone & said he sounded great.
So this morning I get a call from bio-Dad who'd gone in the evening to see him. My son had been a MESS. GF & he had gone on a "pass" onto the closed-in roof-garden. He finally told bioDad that he'd had a bit of weed in his coat pocket & had smoked it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?????????????
and got all scared of the dark & freaked out.Gawd.
He probably thought it might calm him down (as it used to). And as someone pointed out privately to me, maybe he asked GF to bring some for him! Who knows!!!!
I guess he learned NOT A GOOD idea! Or maybe not!I haven't phoned today yet. BioDad asked me not to let on to my son that I knew. So I won't, because I don't want my son NOT to tell things. I hope he tells me though.
What a life!
