I am getting ready to apply some corn glutton to my lawn, it helps with weeds and it fertilizes too. Good stuff, I have used it now 3 years and my lawn hardly has any weeds.

If I did ANYthing with my lawn, organic sounds wonderful!
When the lawn companies phone to try to sell me something, I always am very truthful.
For ex, "Oh - our lawn is terrible & we don't do anything with it. We simply don't choose to spend money on it."
It's been fun saying stuff like that, actually. More than once the person on the onther end has sort of laughed appreciatively & said something like, "OHH - HaHa - well okay then - have a great day!"
lol I think it's great that you're doing something in a natural environmentally-friendly way & it's working well! Hurray to you & thanks for not adding to the toxic load that goes into our earth, water & air!!!
smiles, Kath

No we have to pay homeowners dues and they do lawn care seems unless in the country in NC all neighborhoods have homeowners associations and they are horrible. Rule and regulations. Can't do a thing not even plant a tree. Love Phillipa

It is kinda interesting that my neighbors on both sides of me uses a lawn service that uses chemicals. The 2nd year I used organic, my lawn looked better than theres with less water and during the semi-drought, my grass stayed green when everyone in the neighborhood went brown. They thought I must have been watering it a lot, but not really just once a week like I usually do.
My crocus are finally blooming and daffodil and tulips greens are poking up. It is hard to believe everything seems a month behind this year.
What is cool about corn glutton, people and animals can actually eat it and it is a rich source of nitrogen! But that is much better than the pesticides and chemical nitrogen. I only apply it in the spring and fall and let the grass clippings breakdown on my lawn and it needs nothing else except water. It is so cool I live in town, but my yard especially the back yard is like it's own nature preserve ecosystem. I am so happy it is spring now.

HF - wouldn't it be cool if you had a little flowery (or something) sign on your lawn letting folks know it's organically take care of!
I've seen some that say something like, "I like my family & neighbours, so use no herbicides or pesticides" - can't remember the exact words, it was a little jarring though.
We have a lot of trees, so a lot of shade & we even get moss here & there.
I am longing for spring to really arrive.
Hubby & I went for a walk in the forest today & there was so much snow there still, that it looked just like the very middle of winter!
Our lawn now has no snow, but the one across the street that gets less sun still has snow.
Can hardly wait to be able to garden; I love flowers.
Do I guess from your name, that you do too?
