Me in the nineties... murder trigger

Posted by TexasChic on April 5, 2008, at 22:21:51

I heard this song earlier in the car:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ONZ9bL2WGBE

I started crying and was like, what a stupid song to cry over! But these guys were from around here, and in the 90's I was always out at the heavy metal clubs that they frequented. I hung out with the brothers many times (in a big crowd) but was so shy I barely said a word to them. I doubt they ever knew my name, but they seemed to recognize me as one of the regular crowd. They were the nicest guys. People always freaked out when they showed up, and they were always so nice to everyone. I was really amazed at their patience with people (fans).

For those who don't know, at a show in December 2004, a disgruntled ex-Marine jumped on stage and shot and killed Darrell as the band began its first song. By then I was long gone from that part of my life and no longer spoke to anyone who I was associated with back then, but it still struck me hard. I didn't talk about it, even though everyone was talking about it at work. It just seemed wrong to brag about knowing them at such a time.

Anyway, that's what made me sad tonight. RIP Darrell.

So sorry about this sadness.

It must have been quite an experience to be part of the 'scene' back then.

And after the tragic thing that happened, no wonder you were feeling sad.

How are you now?

hugs, Kath

Thanks you guys...

I'm better. As usual I was momentarily overcome by sadness, but I always manage to find my way back. Which reminds me, have either of you heard from Jay? I'm worried about him.
