Any technical wizards? I did read a peice in a computer magazine once, but I've forgotten what it said. How do you go about downloading and saving them onto your PC?

well, the site itself claims you can't:

but maybe there is some workaround? {shrug}
Yet, you *can* "save to Favorites" to watch later,

which I gather is quite temporary and still not saving them to your hard drive.
hmmm....?

I think they were using a special type of video capture software in the magazine I read, but I know there's no download option on YouTbe itself at the moment. I didn't know saving them to your favourites would would save having to download them each time you visited a page though. Thanks for the links.

After the video has finished playing, it will be saved to the "temporary internet files" folder of your browser as an *.swf file (shockwave flash). It will be large (many megabytes) so easy to spot from amongst the hundreds of other files in the folder (for example, sort the files by size).
Copy this file to a convenient folder, and download a freeware *.swf player to play it with, and voilą!
Disclaimer: it may be illegal to permanently save movies to your hard drive in this way, depending on the type of movie.

...and toooo easy!!! Thanks for the great tip...
Note: About Copyrights: If you want to save your own stuff, read the use agreement for the sites you post stuff at... Dr-Bob's agreement is a good example... Just don't try to sell stuff you cut and paste from here, even if you post it yourself... Sounds Gestapo but its pretty basic...
If you save a copy of your own posting to your hard drive, that's your 1 copy the copyright law allows... Just be careful to show people the file on your own computer, and don't share it electronically or sell access to it and you'll be so off the radar that you won't get "visited"... If its posted on a public forum like here, you can share the URL for it (cut and pasted from the address bar)... Then members are not prevented from seeing it because its public...
And, please don't ever share or sell someone else's post(s) from here... That's not nice nor legal...
