I'm at what I consider to be quite possibly the worst, most dead-end job in the world. My parents can support me during a job hunt (I'm living at home anyway, post-breakdown), but I feel lame about that. Still: my job sucks. One of my parents says to quit. The pay isn't good, the commute is pretty far, and...it sucks, it sucks, it sucks. Is there something to be said for sticking it out? It also makes me feel crazy, and I think I might get fired anyway.
Thanks in advance.

Hi med. Sorry about the job. If you're hating it and family is supportive, costs of gas and mental status not good I'd quit. That's just me. Love Phillipa

Stick it out until you find a better job.

Well, only you know whether this job is truly intolerable or not. And some of them are (believe me, I know!). If its effecting your health - mentally and/or physically, and you would have a better chance finding another job without it, AND you have a support system in your parents, then get out. I would take into account how difficult living off your parents might be though, sometimes that can be even more stressful!
Whatever you decide, from now on you should make it your new full time job to find that better job. Do you have any idea what you would like to do? Do you have any type of training? Are you interested in going to school? Let us know, we may have some ideas for you. In the mean time, good luck and hang in there. I know what its like to hate your job! But you can find a way out if you dedicate yourself to it.

im in the fortunate position of being supported, having insurance+food+shelter, AND (most importantly), I'm headed back to school this Fall. So...I can and will quit, it just kind of sucks in terms of self-respect b/c I wanted to make a go of this.
Thanks for all the input.
