It's 2:45 & I've been on the computer since about 10:30 this morning.
And NOTHING to show for it at all. Just poking around etc.
AND I had the whole day except 3/4 hour free. I had hoped (or PART of me had) to get alot of preparation for the pottery sale done.
And now it's 2:45 & I feel sh*tty.
I feel like I've wasted around 5 hours. I HAVE wasted it!
Oh well. I'm going to turn off the computer after writing this & see how much I can get done.
I want to wax the bottoms of some items & then go to the studio & glaze them.
:-(((( I feel sad. And dumb. I know I'm not stupid, but jeez!!!
Oh well, I'm going to try to let go of the feelings now that I've identified them & FELT them....no sense dwelling on it.
I bet I'm not alone in this type of thing!

Yeah, you could have been taking a nap instead! lol
Don't beat yourself up about it, it happens to a lot of people I am sure. Do you have pictures of your pottery? I would love to see! I love pottery!

i spent a large majority of the day doing nothing but buying pets on some silly myspace thingie. seriously, probably 3 hours total.
i notice a whole lot of the time, that when i have somethign i NEED to do, other things get in the way (like looking up silly things on the net, or checking out the latest celebrity gossip).
at least you still have time to get done what you need to, right? i'm a procrastinator myself. is that what's goign on here?
don't beat yourself up dear. you're certainly not alone!
hugs,
kk

Ha!
This sitting at the computer thing shows how chatty we are and how hard it is to get a decent satisfying chat in our environs.

You probably needed some non-thinking escape time, we all do sometimes. Just because it wasn't anything productful doesn't mean it wasn't necessary for your well being. Listen to that inner you! Its only bad when you ignore the need to do these things and get all burnt out!

You all ROCK!!
Humour, empathy, kindness, wisdom - what more could one ask for in friends!
Thanks all. I've felt very supported reading your replies.
I will really try to take photos of my pottery. Then at least I'll have them on my digital camera, and probably after the sale, I'll have my husband help me figure out how to put them into a file or something & make a link for you-all to see them.
Phillipa, you had mentioned photobucket or something?
I wonder what is the simplest way to put photos on?
I did end up getting quite a bit accomplished later in the day. Not quite as much as I would like, but still, quite a bit!
I do procrastinate. I think that's what I often do. Maybe I did just need to 'veg out'.
love to all of you, Kath

Kath, look at it this way, you probably have neglected giving yourself time everyday for probably I don't know lets say at least 5 years, so today you took that time all at once! LOL
Go easy on yourself. I have overworked myself on our farm for the last 8 years neglecting myself not to mention the rest of life I spent doing for other and not myself and I often just piddle around the house and I refuse to feel guilty anymore. I am a work in progress and sometimes I need design and thought time to think about it :) you know how an artist decides what to draw or a writer thinks about what to write or a business draws up a proposal well sometimes a person needs to draw up a who I am with themself. And it takes some time to just sit and think and do other stuff. so relax the way you need to

Thx R,
Good points & good advice. The reason this bothered me this time was:
I have my pottery sale coming up - setup day is Wednesday. Last sale I was pretty-well ready by setup day. It felt WONDERFUL compared to other years. There have been times in the past when I was up at 3 in the morning still pricing items & writing them onto the inventory list etc.
Last sale felt SO good being ready & NOT having that stress. I want to be that kind of ready this time also, so when I actually just piddled around on the internet instead of being productive, it bothered me muchly :-)
I AM tucking away in my mind this: over the past numerous years, I have had tremendous, ongoing stress with a son who has ongoing substance abuse issues, etc. plus a daughter who has serious environmental illness, SO, if I do what I feel like & use my time in a good-to-me way - I DESERVE IT!!!
So apart from the sale prep, I'll try to remember the above!
luv, Kath
Hope you're doing well. I haven't been on the Psychology board for ages.
luv, Kath
