Photos of where I camp for Kath's Week Away

Posted by Kath on May 14, 2008, at 19:20:21

Once again, I'm going camping by myself to Killbear Provincial park, near Parry Sound, Ontario, Canada.

I thought I'd post some photos, so got some from online. I hope these turn up as a link.

These are great photos & this is exactly what I see & where I go when I'm on my Kath's Week Away. I LOVE Killbear! When I'm up there near the end of June, there aren't as many people as in some of these photos.

I can hardly believe that it won't be long before I am in this wonderful huge, lovely park.

BEAUTIFUL!!!..of course!...I wish more people could see how beautiful Canada is...and there are really 100's of thousands of miles of this! I just hope your weekend is okay: I hear we are in for rain and of course you've got blackfly season. (Sorry...me is Mr. Pessimist(sp??)doh!) But, maybe you will get lucky and the sun will let loose, and the dryer weather might keep the blackflies away! I'm prayin' for ya! Have fun....
And be careful..
Jay :)
p.s. I'd WIMP right out at the first little thing! I would then be at the nearest Holiday Inn/Sheraton with room service, sucking back fancy cocktails, in the hot tub, etc
SeriouslyI am all Mr. Nature until the first bug bite or the first drop of rain. ;-)
That is why God invented Visa and Mastercard :-)hahaaaaa

Hi Jay - thanks for your good thoughts! And your sense of humour LOL

I don't go until near the end of June - so it'll be warmer & the black flies will be done. Now, the mosquitoes will be there though! But it isn't a problem. They're mostly in the evening & I have a nice screen dining tent type thing.

I send you hugs Jay, luv, Kath

Isn't it something else!

Some years ago (maybe 9) when I first started going for my alone week, there were hardly ANY other campers in the area I go to. There are different camp areas...mine's called "Georgian". Anyway, the first year there was NOBODY else in my area!! It was slightly unnerving at first, but I met a woman in a washroom between Georgian & Harold Piont areas & learned that she was within hearing distance if I screamed!! LOL

Anyway, over the last 2 years, there've been more people each year. And THIS year, the park has only 2 of the camping areas open up 'til the end of June, so it means that everyone who was scattered through maybe 4 camping areas over the last years is in the 2, so the 2 are FULL!!! :-((
I'm pissed off about it. I loved that feeling of it not being 'full'.

But there are still WAY fewer people than there are once school is out for the summer & there are so many different places in the park where one can go, that once away from the campground itself, it'll not be crowded. They probably changed the situation to cut back on staffing costs, as they'll have fewer washrooms to maintain if there are only 2 campgrounds open as opposed to more.

I know I'm lucky & I really appreciate it.

:-) Kath
