I just sent out a complain to my bank.
I just need to get this out because it infuriates me.
OK, I walk into a branch wanting to set up a savings account. My hair is kind of messy and I'm wearing a T-shirt. I wait for the receptionist to acknowledge me and ask me what I needed. She asked, "Are you looking for a bank machine?"
I use the bank machine at this branch all the time. I know where the bank machines are. I'm standing there waiting for service. She just assumed I just needed a bank machine.
We set up an appointment for 4:00 pm to see an investment consultant.
At 4:00, there was no one at the reception desk so I sat down in the waiting area.
Two men came in after me and stood around the waiting area. The investment consultant comes out, looks in the waitng area, totally ignores me and asks if one of the men needed help. He said no. I stand up to get his attention. He continues to ignore me. He asks the other man if he needed help.
I start walking towards him now. The investment consultant starts to go back into his office. Then one of the men said, "This lady has been waiting here before us."
Only then does he come ask me if I needed help.
I had an appointment for goodness sake!
Later in this office he tries very hard to be respectful and kind. I guess he realized I was an important customer after he discovered how much money I had saved up.
I'm sick and tired of people treating people who aren't dressed nicely as second class citizens. Everyone should be treated equally and with respect, no matter if they are wearing rags or a suit. Also rich and poor people should not be treated differently.
I hate this about society. Just because someone does not have money does not mean they are somehow less than others. Just because someone has money does not mean they are better.

Deneb, I realize how frustrated and hurt we can feel when we're ignored. Especially if we think that a person is judging us because of our dress, language, hair, whatever.
I look at it like this. It is their problem, not mine. I KNOW how much I'm worth. I feel that frequently the person who is doing the judging doesn't know how much they are worth.
Be proud that you have saved the money and don't give that guy another thought!

You know my ex's Father had a new car lot in Fairfield County Ct and all the Money people came in and a lot of the ones who paid for a new vehicle were dressed like slobs. So don't judge a book by it's cover. Love Phillipa

I feel for you Deneb,I`ve been treeted like that many a time in my life, even worse is when someone who is so called smartley dressed just walks in whilst your waiting looks you up and down up goes their nose, then they try to get seen straight away.I soon put them in their place. That makes me feel good and also belittles them so that they want to hide, also the one they are talking it puts them in their place to.
Wish I was an investment broker I`d put you straight to the front of the queue :-)Dave
