Any gadget lovers out there?
My family knows that if I visit an office supply store, or a kitchen supply store, or linen store, or home supply store, or even an electronics store, that they can expect me to be gone for hours. I've been known to spend an hour looking at cabinet knobs alone, when I wasn't even planning to buy any.
There are the well known gadgets. Tape dispensers, eye masks. But what are your favorite less well known gadgets?
I love my disposable razor with the soap built in. I don't think I've had a nick or scratch in ages, even though I still use extra soap.
I love my eyeglass holder that stands up on its own and is full of furry stuff. I keep it at my bedside, and put my glasses in at night. No more fumbling for glasses or expensive knocking glasses to the floor.
My paperclip holder is wonderful. Even after a year, I am tickled by the fact that I don't need to sift through a bunch of paper clips to find the size or type I want. Three roomy cups that swivel around a central pole and take up little more room than a coffee cup. I don't think I'll ever lose my wonder with this.
And I just found a combination holder for extra toilet paper rolls and current kleenex! What a *great* use of otherwise useless space!
The paint roller with the shield built in seems like such a little thing. But I'm a messy painter at best, and before that gadget, I'd be covered from hair to toes with little speckles of paint.
Who needs expensive stuff when these little gadgets bring such joy?

I don't think I'm all that much of a gadget person, but I love these:
My new bedtime reading flashlite. It hooks over my ear & is round & small. It sort of looks like a 'Bluetooth' or whatever you call those over-the-ear phones.
I also LOVE my 'white-out tape dispenser' - I don't even know what it's called - Dry-Line or something. It's my FAVOURITE gadget EVER. I even white-out the printed holiday names in my purse appointment calendar book so that I can use it!!! LOL
Some of your gadgets sound pretty nifty.
xoxo Kath

Well, actually he has a whole bunch of different sorts because he *loves* to curl up under the covers with a good book.

Oooh. Love that. I loved liquid paper too. But it was so messy. The tape is fabulous.

> xoxo KathI think the whole idea fascinates me. That someone took some minor annoyance that I just live with, and instead comes up with a solution that works just right.
I'm still looking for the perfect pill holder for my purse. Something that separates, protects, isn't hard to get into but will never open on its own. Maybe it's time I bend my own brain to the problem.

I like the eyeglass holder on the sun visor in my car...such a wonderfully practical invention.
"chip clips"- such a necessity"book lights" - those things are great for getting into bed, being able to read, and not having to get up again to turn out the light
my electronic guitar tuner
pill cutters
pill boxes/organizers
paper cutters
and other stuff, you know, it's like raindrops on roses, whiskers on kittens...these are a few of my favorite things ;-)

Do kitchen scissors count? I love to open all plastic food packages with scissors instead of trying to rip them. I'm the same at work-- I'll walk down the hall to find scissors before I'll tear open a potato chip bag.
I love my letter opener, it has a plastic hook that catches the edge and a protected sharp blade.
I'm a big fan of seam-rippers. They're the same principle as the letter opener I guess.
And I like a pocket knife for opening packages.
I guess I'm just particular about cutting tools :)
Oh, I also love crochet hooks, especially the antique tiny ones. And those embroidery scissors that look like a crane with a long beak for the blades.

I have a headband with a strong LED flashlight built in. It's like a miner's cap. I was shocked at how handy that thing has turned out to be - reading in bed, changing light bulbs, digging through dark closets etc...
I also have a cell phone charger that runs on double A batteries that's small enough to fit in my purse. It's saved me several times, since I can never remember to bring my cell phone charger when I travel.
Similarly, I have a thing that plugs into the cigarette lighter in my car and has an AC plug on it. It'll run anything - vacuum cleaners, DVD players, my computer, air compressors anything.
I'm *still* amazed by my Brita water pitcher.
I have a Galileo thermometer too that I love.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galileo_thermometerThat's about it.
Seldom.

I recently discovered that my coffee grinder can make powdered sugar as well.
It's too cool.

Does a lint roller count?
My favorite is my son in law who is a great handyman to fix stuff. At X-mas our toilet wasn't flushing very well, so I left a not to hold down the handle until it flushed. Well of course he fixed it after he saw that. lol

Aside from my cell phone, my favorite gadget is my GPS. I don't worry about getting lost when I travel any more. I have almost no sense of direction, so the GPS is one of the best things that ever happened to me.
