5 foods to live on

Posted by Deneb on April 15, 2009, at 15:19:23

I found this fun thread on PC and I thought I should start it here too.

Imagine you can bring 5 foods with you to eat for a month on a deserted island. You have unlimited water. What would you bring?

OK, berries is cheating, so I'll have blueberries. It's a bit degenerate wanting goji berries, and besides, they might aggravate my insomnia.

And I don't know about that tuber, either.

But I assume you want me to be useful on this island.

Without those leaves I won't be much help.

You'll say 'We can build a shelter.'

And I'd say 'I can't possibly do that. I don't know how to do anything. I'm staying put.'

LOL Sigismund. You should probably bring your coca leaves then.

Hmmm...what would I bring? I can't really decide. I think one might be potatoes. You can do lots with potatoes. Do potatoes have vitamin C? I don't want to get scury. LOL

Some protein, maybe chicken, hmmm....but I guess they would have to be live chickens since I don't have a refrigerator. No, better bring chickens to lay eggs. LOL

Someting sweet, maybe dark chocolate.

The thing is - I don't know if I have a stove!!!

Or an icy cave to keep things cold in!!

Assuming No Stove & No Cave:

1. tomatoes (varying from green to ripe, so they can ripen over time)

2. boxes of rice crackers

3. bananas (once again varying in ripeness from green to ripe)

4. raisins

5. cashew nuts

If there were an icy cave to keep things cold, hmmm I think it wouldn't make a difference!!

If there were a stove, & I had a pot, I'd bring dried brown rice instead of rice crackers.

That was interesting Deneb!
