Anyways, I found out what foie gras is and I am horrified, not because it is fatty goose liver, but because of the way they get the fatty goose liver - force feeding.
I am not a vegetarian, and I eat meat, but I draw the line at such practices. I think I will skip the foie gras in SF.
Horrified Deneb. Poor geese.

When I was growing up we were told they had their feet nailed to the floor.
This could not (surely?) be true.
We came from the country and perhaps had a tendency to spice things up, cruelty (albeit necessary) to animals being part of the game.

i heard a while ago that they made it illagal at restaurants in a few cities....both b/c cruelty and b/c so fattening
