Yup. Apparently our calking needs some work because they got inside and we had a small indoor swarm. We're all traumatized.
They get everywhere. I'm not afraid of bugs in general, but I got stuck in a swarm a few years back and had termites *everywhere*. I was picking them out of my mouth and hair, shaking them out of my bra, and a few got in my undies. They'll even fly into your eyes. You can squash them easily, and their wings keep falling off. Termite wings everywhere.
I might not be afraid of bugs in general, but I developed a fear of termites - at least in swarms.

Had them in my walls once years ago different house and all you heard was crunch cruch cruch. Wasn't pretty. Wall replaced and termite treatment to whole house which is very toxic. Phillipa

I'm not sure termites eat at all in swarming season. They seem to just blindly fly everywhere and anywhere, mate, and die.
It's gross.

I didn't know termites had a swarming season. Sounds like something out of a horror movie. You have my sympathies.

Definitely horror movie material.

I'm not keen on insects, arachnids or arthropods.
They seem to me as bad as humans, present company excepted of course.

In general I have no trouble with insects as long as they aren't harming my home (or anyone else's home) or any person and don't invade my personal space uninvited.
So I guess my feelings for them are like my feelings for humans.

I don't know if this is still the case (which says something about how I look after my home) but for many many years a 'group' of wasps was living in one of the wall cavities.
They were well behaved and never stung anyone.
I'm not keen on the praying mantis or the large spider in my bedroom.
OTOH, bats in the house are fine.

It's nightmarish, but blessedly brief.
They only got inside the once. We'll fix the caulking by next year. It'll help with summer electric bills too.
This is the end of the thread.
