is dying due to the 100+ days we are having.
The first to go are the tomatoes..the banana trees look like they may be next.
Cosmos are long gone.
The "reolas" are hanging tight, some wilt and I water again..
...the only morning glories doing well are on Fayeroe's blanket garden and those that I planted in containers and are in the shade.
The petunias on Faye's garden are long gone and so are the marigolds.
The cucumbers succumbed to the hot days this weekend.
The plants I've seen all over the Caribbean and Mexico are fighters. I can't remember the name. Bright purple, white, peach and red blooms? Not hisbiscus. They died.
ASPARAGUS FERN LIVES. Thank goodness for their little sturdy hearts.
The elephant ears are getting scary. I'm trying to hang on to them. I dug them out of a creek bank by my house.
All in all, I'm losing the battle. :-(

How very very sad. I'd be really upset.
Banana trees!!!!!!!!!!!! Lucky you!!!
I'm sorry about the loss of your beloved plants.
100+ Jeez - we're only getting about 68 - 75F (I'm not used to F anymore - had to look it up on thermometer!)
We're having a wet, crummy summer so far. I hate it, because I need the hot summer & sun to charge up my batteries so I can cope with the cold gray winter.
Love, Kath

Henrietta, thank you so much for your post on Adm.
My gardens are me. Gardening is the one thing that I do for myself on a daily basis. I invest many emotions
in the care of the flowers and vegetables. I feel fulfilled when I look out my window in the kitchen and see the colors and the textures.Fayeroe died in February and I started on her "blanket garden" the day we buried her. It was so beautiful 10 days ago! Now it has blank patches and wilted plants.
The blanket garden for Fayeroe gives me a sense of being with her. I wanted it to be very beautiful with different colors and textures because she was that kind of dog. She never met a stranger and she loved every adventure that we set out on. So.....I sure wish I could have kept it pretty all summer.
It doesn't matter how much I water, the heat and wind sap the plants by 10 a.m. every day.
I've discovered that the morning glories definitely grow better in "crowds". I'll plant them all that way next year.
Thank you, again. Your post helped me. xoxo Pat

Sorry about your garden. That really stinks. Do you have houseplants? I wonder what plants are really heat resistant? C4 plants like corn do better in the heat.
CAM plants like cacti?

Deneb, thank you very much.
I've worked to find plants that are heat resistant and need very little water. That goes hand in hand.
I have Texas Lilacs, Esperanza, a vine (can't remember the name) that has the most fragrant flowers, in the spring, some kind of cactus that you grow in hanging baskets..they are really pretty..the Roelas, banana trees (4) and iris. And my sweet potato vines are doing well. They are shaded..
I didn't realize how emotionally invested I am in the plants until I started this thread.
Thanks..Pat
