When there is a shortage of say ventilators or vaccines, some people start saying that illegal aliens, immigrants and other non citizens shouldn't get the ventilator or vaccine or whatever. Instead the citizens should get it instead.
I think this is just plain wrong. All life is valuable. Just because you were lucky enough to be born in a country doesn't mean your life is worth more or less than other people.
It just really bothers me when some people think their life is more important than others.
I would think in situations where resources are limited that the person who is most in need as well as who is most likely to be saved would get that resource first, no matter who they are.

In 1788 11 big ships carrying more than a thousand each of convicts, and soldiers and sailors showed up in what is now called Sydney Harbour. At some point, Governor Phillip got off the boat with some officers and made contact with the locals, asking for water by making the movements for drinking. The Aboriginal people showed them where to get running water. Phillip understood the sharing of water differently. His instructions were to take possession of the east coast of New Holland and make peace with the natives.
We're the same as you....every time a new boat load comes the neanderthals are out in force. What's it going to be like for Australia when the pacific Islands and low lying parts of Bangladesh go under....lots of boat people then? In Western Australia last year sea levels rose 8mm. That's huge.

So I should die cause I'm 63????? Those countries also have medications and ventilators. It's the young children and babies that are at risk and pregnant women? What about them? Hospitals lose money and go out of business no doctors more quitting each day. It's a sad situation countries are in. Look what happened with the plague? It's got nothing to do with any of above if your're saying that this just applies to illegal immigrants. Phillipa

Phillipa, I think you may have misunderstood me. What I am saying is, if there is a pregnant illegal alien, I think she should get the ventilator or vaccine ahead of a healthy citizen.
What bothers me is when citizens say illegal aliens or other non citizens in at risk priority groups should die just because they are not citizens. The are human too and deserve a chance at life.
I think the vaccines, ventilators etc, should be given to the people who most need them and who are most likely to die without them, be it a citizen or an illegal alien.
Certainly if there is a pregnant citizen and a healthy illegal alien, the pregnant citizen should get the resource.
What I am trying to say is that we should be blind to a person's status and only use their medical circumstances to decide who will get treatment.
The poor and the rich, citizens and non citizens, the young and the old, should all be given access to scarce resources according to how much they need them.

'If you want to come to this country you must come by the approved channels'.
I realise we're different, but other people may get the same idea.

Deneb yes I did misunderstand you thank's for clarifying. See I worked only for a month In ICU and watched poor elderly be taken off vents and let to die as their husband of maybe over 50 years watched. I couldn't take the callousness so left that unit. It was horrible. Love Phillipa
