So bored-- anyone else?

Posted by inanimate peanut on January 1, 2010, at 12:12:24

I'm so insanely bored. I have things I could be doing that even need doing quite badly (cleaning especially) but I'm too depressed to make myself do more than what's absolutely necessary. I was researching drugs, and now I feel like that is pointless as knowing more about drugs will not make them work. I was making blankets for my family but I don't feel like doing that. I don't even feel like laying around and watching TV. I could try to make myself do some things for work and I can't even get close to that. The only thing I feel like doing is talking to people and there's no one right now to talk to. ARGH!

I feel that way a lot, and I've been that way for as long as I can remember. Occasionally I will get obsessed with something and spend a lot of time on it, but the default is procrastination. Motivation has always been a huge problem for me. I tend to waste a lot of time on things that I find mildly entertaining but that has no intrinsic value (like play mindless video games) and ignore stuff I really ought to be doing. My excuse is often that I'm feeling down and don't want to push myself too much.

I know what you mean. All day has sort of been a blah for me. I told myself that I would get up and clean the house for the new year, but so far I have not made good on that promise.
I've just being online playing games and wasting time. I was supposed to to go the store today but now it's getting late so I probably won't do that.
Blah! I don't know why I'm so bored/listless.

Here's an idea -- bubbly bath. That way you can sit and relax (do nothing) without feeling like you're doing nothing. Bubbles, candles, good book...

Sounds like a plan to me. I think I'll do just that.

Well, I'm getting close to making it through another day. Whew! But then what happens?!? I sleep and do it all again tomorrow! This is some kind of bad sit com. Verloren, I hope you had a good bubble bath. I don't even have enough energy for that. I don't really know how I'm supposed to keep doing this day after day after day...

Yeah, so I never did get around to that bath. I got a case of the lazys and ended up staying in bed.

Tomorrow will be better though, I think. I have to go to the store, I don't have a choice. Maybe when I'm there I'll buy myself some flowers. Flowers make me feel better. Then, maybe I can reconsider that bath.

Here's a flower for you too.
