I'm becoming mute for 39.5 hours

Posted by Deneb on December 11, 2010, at 23:04:19

I think I am coming down with laryngitis and I need my voice for work. I guess I really do have just a cold and was not coming down with serotonin syndrome. I felt kind of sick today and I did not have take the increased dose of Celexa.

I'm really hoping I can work on Monday. I'm going to just stop talking completely until work on Monday.

I've already stopped talking for 6 hours. It's not too difficult.

This really sucks! I still don't have my voice. I really want to work tomorrow, but at this point I don't think it is possible to talk for 10 hours tomorrow.

I really want the money! This stinks!

Oh well, maybe I will make a pumpkin pie out of the pumpkin tomorrow.

I wonder if there is some sort of emergency treatment for laryngitis? I would so get it if the side effects aren't too horrendous.

Deneb, I'm sorry to hear that you're sick - that sucks! I don't know of any fast-acting treatment for laryngitis. My understanding was rest (your silence) was very important in keeping from doing damage to your voice.

Aw man, this sucks. My sick note today cost $20, plus I didn't work for 10 hours. On the plus side, my voice is much better I think. I say I think because I've been refraining from speaking so I don't know if it will be OK for continuous talking.

Plus, the doctor suggested antibiotics for me. WTF? I'm not that sick. I just couldn't talk. I'm pretty sure this is just a cold. I guess this is how he takes care of his cold and flu patients? Bad. He is contributing to the antibiotic resistant bacteria problem.

I'm going in to work tomorrow, and hoping for the best. I think work is starting to think I'm unreliable.

Some doctors prescribe antibiotics over the phone via voice message.
Amazing. I don't have one of those. I have one of those "let's order a test" doctor.
The schools have changed.
Just feel better, Deneb. A sick employee is no good to anybody.

I went to work yesterday. It started out well, but by the end of the 10 hours my voice was going again.

I then proceeded to remain mute all of yesterday night after work to try to heal my voice for work today.

I didn't speak today until I went to work and went to buy a coffee at Tim Hortons. My voice was horrendous. I tried working for 1 hour and lots of people didn't understand me. So I told work that I couldn't work today. This really sucks because I was looking forward to making some money. Well at least I didn't need a sick note today. It was very obvious that I couldn't talk.

I'm staying mute until tomorrow. I'm going to try going in to work again and I'm going to hope for the best.

Damn this laryngitis! Stupid laryngitis is costing me lots of money. This really stinks. Work doesn't have anything I could do that doesn't involve using my voice.

Oh well, at least I feel less guilty about taking Monday off now. It turns out that I really did need that day to rest my voice so that I could work on Tues. Plus now work knows just how bad my voice is. They know I really want the hours and that this isn't my fault. It's just plain bad luck!

My voice isn't just bad, it is nonexistant at times. I manage to squeek a few words then no sounds come out, then squeek again. It's terrible!

Argh, Damn you laryngitis! LOL Damn you!
