How do you relax?

Posted by Maxime on January 3, 2011, at 2:39:40

I am anxious all the time. Always worrying about something. I don't take any meds for it because I haven't found anything that works and I really don't want to take meds for everything.

I wish I could learn yoga because I believe that would help a lot.

Right now I am so upset, I am shaking and I don't know how to stop.

I used to take bubble bathes, but then I got to the point where I really COULD NOT stand to look at myself naked.

Just wanted to know what other people do to relax?

From DBT, I have learned mindfulness. I wash the dishes and listen to my ipod. I vacuum and listen to my ipod. I go for long walks. I swim. I try hard not to get anxious. I do deep breathing and progressive muscle relaxation. I have to work at this constantly because I find it hard to relax. I am a workaholic and don't know what to do with downtime. I read a lot, though sometimes I feel like I'm just reading to kill time. I guess my biggest form of relaxation is to meet a friend for coffee or lunch or dinner or something. It makes me feel social. My work isn't social at all.

I really should take out my DBT binder and look through it. Sounds like you have several ways to relax and that is great!
