Oh my so much snow in the South and the South isn't prepared for snow. No work and driving, airports in Atlanta Huge hub Closed. And I hear Australia is flooding. They now say on TV news station that Global Warming means winters will be colder. What a mess. Phillipa

I live in the south, and we got hit with a mild version of what hit atl. Even though the ice was relatively minimal, EVERYTHING shut down--even restaurants are closed here! Places in the South, especially smaller towns+cities, really aren't prepared to deal with really cold weather.

As we showeled the driveway tonight it turned to black ice, and the car even in garage is covered in ice can't wipe it down as usually do. They are saying 2-4 more inches. Is it over there yet? Phillipa

Australia has a really extreme climate that is the despair of farmers.
There was a good 10 years of drought, and recently the wettest and coolest winter and spring on record and now endless rain, which, because Australia is so flat, easily causes massive flooding. And we are just moving into the wet season. I hate to think what that will be like, especially if a cyclone comes down in the middle of it.

I heard Brisbane evacuated today and 70 some odd people dead. Some said the Myan calandar ends in 2012. Could it be the end? PJ

I don't think all of Brisbane, but the lowlying areas, yes.
In Toowoomba there was a 2 metre high wall of water that did all this stuff.
The Australian climate is so extreme.
10 years of drought and then this.
