So I get my news from my husband. Trump is out there stumping. Apparently he is claiming to be the *only true American* candidate.
How can this be true? Any citizen is a true citizen. Granted, to become president, a candidate needs to be a native as well.
But that seems pretty dismissive of the majority of people in the United States. All of my relations came to this country at the turn of the previous century or afterwards. They worked hard in small businesses, some were refugees from eastern Europe. One exception was one tiny branch of the family tree that descended from John Winthrop, the first governor of Massachusetts. (Check my facts on that, please.)
My poor mom used to laugh about that. Said it qualified her to belong to the DAR, Daughters of the American Revolution. If you had seen us, you'd have gotten the joke. Poor Catholics w/ lots of kids in a largely Protestant neighborhood. The
significance of that lost to me until I was a teenager.

Mr Trump's intellectual and business history have been in the news. The intellectual, from his proposals from when Ross Perot was running, and the financial didn't honestly sound that successful (but you know what Marxists those journalists are). He's only a problem to the Republicans, isn't he? He must have an interesting history that will be combed through.
I'm more interested in the Libertarians. Every time Ron Paul speaks I'm surprised to hear things I agree with.

He used to advocate a *tax* (on people like him!) to balance the budget.
Politics has moved on but not up.
This is the end of the thread.
