(don't tell anyone)

working inside is pleasant respite from the heat.

Given my province's crazy school system, I'm just starting my third week today... and I'm already behind! Yikes! Then I hear about everyone just starting now and it's depressing.

That said, good luck with school and hope it turns out to be something worth looking forward to. Now, don't do like me and put everything off... but feel free to imitate my consumption of good tea/coffee, decaffeinated if need be. :)

Speaking of coffee, I think it's a bad sign that my preferences just keep getting darker and darker. I've moved from some random mild blend to French roast in the past year. Scary...

I'm in a preuniversity Health Science program which is going to be the death of me. The name is kind of misleading, as we don't really get into anything directly health-related, it's just that the science program is broken up into physics/mathematics emphasis (Pure & Applied) and chemistry/biology emphasis, which would be Health. The specific program I'm in involves getting an IB diploma alongside the local Diplôme d'études collégiales... I should have known I wasn't cut out to be a science student when I chose it specifically because it also has a strong philosophy component.

Next year, I hope to be studying psychology, and despite all I said above, I'm still trying to decide whether to go for a BA or BSc.

Cool :-)

> I should have known I wasn't cut out to be a science student when I chose it specifically because it also has a strong philosophy component.

:-)
Maybe you might like to take some philosophy papers?

> Next year, I hope to be studying psychology, and despite all I said above, I'm still trying to decide whether to go for a BA or BSc.

Hmm.
We offer a Bachelor of Social Science degree. Psychology and History and Philosophy and Anthropology and Sociology and possibly even Linguistics are considered social sciences.

That leaves particular languages (French, Latin etc) Fine arts (Art History, Music, Media Studies) and thats about it really... As arts subjects.

I got a BA because I thought a BSocSci sounded a bit dodgey... But now I kind of wish I'd done the latter.

Do you find psychology over in the science department where you are?

The scientists over here won't have a bar of them ;-)

>Maybe you might like to take some philosophy papers?

I'll stick it on my to-do list once bathing and sleeping get checked off on a regular basis. :) (Just kidding; I do bathe. Usually.)

>Do you find psychology over in the science department where you are?

Yes, although not at the pre-university level. There is literally no chance for me to take a psychology course right now, which may prove tricky in applying. I'm doing my Extended Essay (an IB requirement, about 4,000 word essay which is as formal as it gets at this level) on a subject in psychology, so hopefully that will provide some help, but it's still a bit worrisome. And I thought language (I'd like to try to enroll at one of the local French universities but still have a lot of work to do on my language skills) was going to be my only big issue apart from money. :(

Anyway, all that said, psychology is regularly offered as both a BA and a BSc; the latter sort of program includes a biology component. I don't believe I've heard of a BSS over here, but it's possible.

If only! My last exam is on the 22nd of December. :-( Oh well, university is close.

Have you ever seen those old Five Star commercials? "This year, things are going to be different," which all too quickly becomes "NEXT year, things are going to be different."

Those commercials are my life.

>I know! Its true over the years it gets stronger and stronger. next year ill be eating the grinds lol

Hm, not a half-bad idea. We'll see if I'm not there by finals. ;-)

Hard to say... Depends on your tolerance for caffine. If you get a headache then you have probably had a few too many :-)
