hi all,
I am new to the board.
writing about an experience i am having.
i miss understood the dosage amount for the liquid and have taked 10x more deprenyl
(selegiline citrate) than is recommended for a healthy male 48 yr old. the recommended dose for a 48 yr old healthy male is 1-2 mg (drops) per day. I got this dose from the book, Smart Drugs II. I am not having any major problems from it that i can tell, in case you wondered. the selepryl tastes nasty; tart, bitter with a wierd after taste.
what is happened is this. the liquid in the blue bottle is concentrated. A 1mg (dose)is equal to a drop, YES, Just a Drop. I was thinking that 1 mg dose was equal to 1 milliliter which equals 1 cubic centimeter. so when i thought i was doing 1 dose of 1 mg (when i should have been measuring a drop per dose), I was measuring measuring 1 cc in the dropper.
day 1- I took 3 ml which is about 24 doses at 8mg/ml...in the late afternoon
day 2- I took only 1 ml so that would be about 8 mg (8 doses) at 9:30 in the morning.
day 3- I took only 1 ml again for 8 mg or 8 doses.
taken at 7:30 am.so i am glad that i kept a little record of how i felt. I certainly noticed it in my body. I felt speedy, awake, alert but it felt artificial. then i felt nausaus. i smoked a very small amount of weed and the two didnt mix well. the high was overpowered by the deprenyl. mild head ache going on. language is off. today i had some moderate anxiety today in a social setting which is unusual for me. i had one dream that seemed unusual in the quality as though i wasnt in a normal dream-state sleep while having it. At this point, i have not noticed any increase in libido or sexuality, if anything it has lessened due to the excess deprenyl.
I am thinking to discontinue starting tomorrow for a week and resume with 1 drop per day provided i feel back to "normal" in a week. I understand deprenyl has a lasting effect? (or the results of it) and continue past when a person stops taking it.
respectful comments are welcome. if you never heard of deprenyl or smart drugs, please research them before posting a comment.
I would like to know if any one has experience with deprenyl and what they experience from it.
how long does it take to leave the body once they quit?thanks

Hi there
The deprenyl I have here is Cyprenyl, and contains 300mg in 12ml, which is 25mg/ml (I think).
Yours should be the same concentration.
So if that's right, on the first day you took 75mg?Do you think that's right?
I'm not surprised you felt stimulated.
How long before it leaves your body?
I don't know, but my experience with deprenyl and insomnia has been that if I stop taking it one day, my sleep is better the night of the next. And welcome to Psychobabble.

yes, it could be 25 mg/ ml when you figure it that way. I should have said that i was using a dropper that came with the Selepryl that was ungraduated so i wasnt using a measured ml, so i was estimating based what i thought 1 ml would be in the dropper. so when i realized i should have been doing drops. I put what i thought to be
1 ml in the dropper and counted out the drops which is where i got the 8 drops/ml. good that my measure was off by more than half...

Hi all,
this is an update. i took the deprenyl monday-wednesday. realized i had overdone it and stopped. so today, friday, for the first time since monday i was on the phone and cracked a joke with a friend. Dep affected my humor, and seems to have affected my intuition and my feeling of being connected to myself. much of the anxiety i had is dissipating. feeling some sexual energy today which also was affected. still feeling lack of conversational and sentence construct. Dep is good, i think, just not at the big dose i took.
thaks for reading.

Your experience is a lesson to us in what a benign drug deprenyl is.
It sure must have inhibited some MAO-A and MAO-B on the way.
It's great stuff, but not so good for people with sleep issues.

hi everyone,
i took one drop on last saturday morning and then on monday morning. both times i experienced about the same. some what of a rush at first, speedy feeling, as i came down in the afternoon i had anxiety, nervousness, jittery. not my cup of tea. experience was that it made my world more black and white and i am looking for more color in my world. yes, maybe increase in sexual energy but it was jittery as well and with out a partner is of little use to me at this time. seemed to stifle creativity imagination, etc. so that is it for me and deprynal selepryl.
thanks

I'm surprised on how easily people take MAOIs. The possibility of an acute hypertension crisis, scares the hell out of me and i'm too hesitated to try them.

Selegiline is (at least at lower doses) a selective MAO-B inhibitor. MAO-A is what your thinking of, with the cheese effect. Selegiline is generally well tolerated and the liquid (citrate) adds the advantage of low dosing.

So, selective MAO-B inhibitors are considered safe. I see.
