Oh, good. That would mean they don't need Homeland Security money-- which many states with no chance of a terrorist attack receive at the expense of NY and other cities which might actually be targets. Entreating the benevolence of god does not require subsidies.

Great point. A few years ago my own small state apparently led the US in number of official "potential terror attack targets" - one celebrated site on the list was a roller rink in a medium-seized industrial city. The local governments were quite good at getting that Homeland Security money to replace ambulances, etc.

I'm sure Billy's Skate Barn is right up there with the Statue of Liberty on Osama's hit list...

Let me see if I got this straight. We want to leave God out of the war against Satan.

No. We want to leave religion out of state. If only religious people/church paid for our government, they would have the right to put whatever they wanted to in the Homeland Security papers.

Since we all pay for government and we all don't believe the same way, one group doesn't get to dictate what government does.

Democracy rules. "Democracy is a form of government in which power is held by people under a free electoral system." One group is not the people.

How would it be done in Canada, where you live?

Sounds like a Zoroastran heresy

Oh, learned one, if you say so. :-)

I googled Zoroastran and didn't understand any of it.

I googled it and only found myself.

So maybe I'm an authority?

Or I made it up (quite likely).

I can't remember

Zorastrianism isn't a heresy, it's a religion. It is by some accounts the oldest monotheistic religion in the world. One of its central tenets is the cosmic struggle between good and evil. Perhaps that's what you're thinking of? I did a college paper on it, and briefly flirted with converting.

However, the idea of the cosmic struggle between good and evil is hardly limited to Zoroastrianism, and I don't believe Ray's beliefs on the nature of good and evil would be considered heresy in the Mormon faith.

Any further discussion of the duality of good and evil as it relates to faith should probably take place on the Faith board.
