Paul:
Go to medscape.com, scroll to the bottom of the page and use the Medline search. Use the word ADRAFINIL or OLMIFON and also, try searching for MODAFINIL, a sister drug that's almost identical in its actions. Modafinil was recently approved by the FDA for narcolepsy treatment and is apparently a really clean and effective drug. I've used Adrafinil in small doses with both amphetamine and methylphenidate with no adverse reactions, though you should check with a physician first.
Adrafinil seems to enhance the alpha-1 adrenoreceptors only, which means its great for vigilance and wakefullness with less jittery anxiety (which you get with pro-dopamines like Ritalin). I found that it helped pick me up when tired, but there were no mood enhancing qualities, which is what I need for my chronic depression. You probably don't need to take both, though the combo might be potent for some patients with specific symptoms.
If you're going to try it, split a 300mg tablet in quarters, take 1/4 once a.m. for a few days. Good luck.
