I've been taking Zyprexa for quite awhile now and am very happy with it. I take 7.5 mg at night and it's really cleared up obsessive thoughts of suicide that go with my depression. As Cam said I think it is best as an augmenter for a standard AD.
I did gain the weight on it. Two weeks ago I started a serious diet and excersize regiment and have been able to lose 7 pounds since starting. So I know that you can take the weight off or keep it off if you are serious about it.
When I started it my pdoc prescribed 2.5 mg pills that we used to find the right dose for me. It ended up being 5-7.5 mg and I've stayed there ever since. I think it is worth a try, especially if you have an AD that works a little. This may help you over the next hurdle in treatment.
