Vesper,
I have never responded to you before but have read some of your posts and have felt your pain in the words you have written. I too have many times felt that there was no hope - no one who could possibly help me. Sometimes I still feel that way...but I am determined not to give up. An answer to my illness may be just around the next corner.
So many in the mental health field, as in life, are poorly equipped. It's kind of like the teachers we had in school. Did you have, in all your years of school, maybe one or two teachers who stand out from the many - who had a genuine gift, who truly cared and were effective at imparting to you their knowledge? Well, there are those in the mental health field who are gifted, knowledgeable and compassionate as well. They are rare but they are out there. BTW, you won't generally find them in an ER.
I pray that you'll hang on, that you won't give up on yourself. There are plenty of us here who won't give up on you either.
Stick around.
Karen
