> Marie Smith, you might want to look back in the archives at various posts people have made about Serzone. I took it for a couple of months, and after the first two weeks (when I felt really tired, dizzy, depressed, and very very moody--esp. irritable and angry), I loved it! After the first two weeks, all the bad things went away and I felt just great. My social anxiety was done to zero. Unfortunately, it didn't help my OCD so I switched to Effexor-XR eventually, with my pdoc's help (he's very talented at psychopharm), and I'm very happy with it. Hope Serzone works out for you!Marie, I am currently taking 300mg of serzone. After about a month it was pretty obvious that I was not substantially better. I was still crying and tired during the day. I tried adding Effexor in a small amount, but found even a small amount of effexor caused insomnia. I know plenty of people who have no problem with this, but my particular chemistry is very easily agitated by some stimulating drugs.
My Dr. specializes in hard to treat depression. She suggested trying 150mg of Wellbutrin XR in the morning and taking the Serzone at night. So far it's been easy to tolerate and gives me more energy. It works on Norenpinephrin and Dopamine. Serzone is all about Seratonin. I needed all the neurotransmitters addressed.
If you can give the Serzone time to kick-in and ride out the side-effects, you can try this combo.
Good luck in your journey. It just takes a while to find the right drug or combination. Lynn B
