Regarding the sleeplessness---it could be an indication, along with the swings, that your depression is in the bipolar family. Or, the sleeplessness could be an effect of the effexor. For me, effexor causes sleeplessness, twitchiness and restlessness (like shaking my legs all day). This is evened out some by taking an equal amount of serzone. The balance of these two seems to work for me, as serzone is more sedating, and counters the overactivating aspects of the effexor.

It also could be that the effexor is only partially treating your depression. BTW, have you had your thyroid checked?
