Hi Angelrose,
Your doc probably gave you Imipramine for sleep. It belongs to a class of antidpressants that are generally superior to SSRIs, but usually avoided due to harsher side effects. Common side effects might be dry mouth or constipation. But sleep should be good, and even just a little Imipramine could work better than you expect. Another option for sleep with Wellbutrin might have been Remeron, but overall I think Imipramine stands a better chance of producing good results as well.In clinical studies, the tricyclics (like Imipramine) were generally equal in efficacy to SSRIs....IF the criteria used to measure success was a 50% reduction of symptoms. However, when the criteria was changed to complete euthymia (100% reduction of symptoms), the tricyclics far outperformed the SSRIs.
