Hi Andrew.A point of interest for your cummulative knowledge base:
I experienced an antidepressant response within five days of adding Zyprexa to my regime of Parnate + desipramine + Lamictal. I began at a dosage of 2.5mg. After moving up 5.0mg., I felt even better for another five days, but then lost the effect entirely.
Zyprexa has an average half-life of 35 hours. That's kind of longish. I decided to skip a day to see what would happen. I definitely felt improved the next day. I skipped a second day, and remained improved until late the next day. I decided not to restart Zyprexa at 2.5mg because I needed to trial Risperdal before going in to see my doctor in 12 days. Therefore, one cannot extrapolate with confidence that the lower dosage of Zyprexa would have produced a stable response, but I suspect it would.
Anita reported a similar experience with Risperdal augmentation. She has done much better at 0.25mg than she did at 0.50mg and higher. She lost her initial response after a week and a half of beginning Risperdal at the higher dosage, but was able to recapture it at the lower dosage. I'll say a little prayer for Anita that it "sticks". Said.
It is my intention to remain at 0.50mg of Risperdal rather than the 1.0mg prescribed by my doctor. I doubt he will be at all surprised at the existence of an antidepressant therapeutic window for these drugs.
I hope all remains well with you.
Sincerely,
Scott
