Except that I found that a shorter acting (ritalin) stimulant caused a bigger "let down" effect, sometimes called "rebound", during which I felt drained and cranky. I guess that contributes to abuse. I find Adderall to be smoother, longer acting. One downside to adderall, vs. Ritalin, for me, if I can , ahem, address a more delicate issue---(thank goodness for the internet) ---Ritalin helped to counter the sexual side effects of the Effexor I take, whereas Adderall does not. For now, I will live with this trade off, tho I might ask my pdoc if it is possible to take regular ritalin on top of the adderall from time to time....I don't know if that would work or not, tho.
