> I've talked to a lot of people on Babble who can't afford the best
medications for their illnesses. I say, simply: instead, buy your
medications wholesale from somewhere (CVS or Wal-Mart are no
good).Sal,
For one of my meds CVS is $10 more per month than my local
pharmacy. Since I do not have insurance I have searched high and
low for ways to acquire my meds, most of them legit too! Ha ha. I
called just about every pharmacy in the region where I live and priced
out my meds. For a while Costco, the mega box warehouse store,
was giving me the best price for Wellbutrin SR 150 mg and Buspar
15 mg, but going to that massive hellhole of consumerism was even
worse for my depression! Not only was it always a zoo but it is
located on the opposite side of the county from where I live. It was
very difficult to movitate to go pick up my rx on my low energy
days, yet I didn't have the luxury of being able to afford to have more
than two weeks to a month's supply on hand so I was constantly at
that evil capitalistic palace waiting in long lines for medications that
made me feel rotten.I called my old pharmacist and explained how I had called over 30
pharmacies and that the lowest price was at Costco (this pharmacy is
a true mom and pop operation from back in the day) and not only did
he match Costco's price but lowered it just a touch more. Now that's
heart. Since that time (last fall) I have also stumbled across a three
month supply of Wb SR 150 from a local low cost clinic. They
received a large quantity of psychiatric medications from a settlement
with the pharm. companies. I happened to be getting my thyroid
checked and the medicine locker was adjacent to the blood lab, I
peeked in and saw the motherlode! I inquired and found out they
prescribed antidepressants there---I had thought this clinic only did
basic helth (sore throats and the like) and sent us mental cases to the
county. They set me up with a three month supply of Wb and one
month of Buspar. And let me tell you what a relief that was since I
am on disability unemployment from the state and that barely covers
my rent and car payment.I guess I'm just offering that one never knows what kindness is out
there until one asks.--Alii
