Desipramine can make some people jittery. (So can imipramine, for that matter, but I think desipramine might do this to some people who find imipramine sedating.) As far as I can tell, it's not sedating at all.

Also: constipation, increased heart rate, cognitive impairment, ...

Desipramine is relatively lacking in anticholinergic side effects.

Imipramine is probably better for panic disorder.

That might be related to serotonin; desipramihne is a relatively selective norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor.

That's surprising. It's very commonly used because it tends to be more tolerable than most of the other tricyclics. I've been taking it for about 2 1/2 weeks and am beginning to notice some improvement, without any side effects (except maybe a little dry mouth, but that could just be from another medication that I'm taking). I'm not finding it helpful with concentration and focus (attention problems), though.
