Precision With Prozac

Posted by John k on October 14, 2001, at 6:27:04

I am doing great on Prozac. However, I have a slight problem--my therapeutic window is very small. In other words, I am usually feeling fantastic and being very productive on say 65 mg a day, but 70 mg makes me anxious and somewhat depressed. 60 mg per day makes me feel a bit insecure and depressed too. This is rather problematic since my Prozac tablets contain 20 mg each and it's troublesome do divide them into exactly 5 mg pieces, let alone something even finer.
I'm thinking about solving the tablets in water and drinking an exact percentage of it which would give complete dose control. Could such a solution be stored in the refrigerator for a while?
It would be very interesting to hear if someone else has noticed this need for very precise dosing of Prozac or another antidepressant, and if so, how it's been dealt with.
