I just bought some GABA 750 mg tablets from the health food store. Has anyone tried these to decrease anxiety, increase sociability, or improve sleep? Do these GABA pills pass through the blood-brain barrier?
The reason I bought them is because Klonopin & Neurotin both enhance the action of GABA, so perhaps just taking GABA might do the same thing
.
My psychiatrist like most others, is afraid of prescribing evil benzos like klonopin so I only get 1 mg per day and take celexa 20 mg. (Doctors are trying to prescribe ssri's instead of benzos for anxiety, but ssri's & effexor xr seem to me to make anxiety & insomnia worse, not better.) But even getting the 1 mg per day of Klonopin was like pulling teeth. So i'm hoping this GABA will help augment/enhance the Klonopin, but somehow I doubt it because all the herbs i've tried in the past are expensive & relatively worthless. If this GABA stuff does work for you, do you have any tips on dosages?
