In reply to Mirtazapine and moclobemide together?, posted by Jenna S. on December 10, 2001, at 15:58:53
I tried this combo I while ago. I would fear
getting serotonin syndrome or a problem with
blood pressure/heart racing.
You could give it a go while monitoring blood
pressure and abiding to the maoi diet stuff even though
moclobemide is a reversable maoi. The problem is that
Remeron blocks the feedback receptor that would
stop the moclobemide from producing and releasing
too much serotonin or noradrenaline. It is a little
bit dangerous in my opinion. Needs careful
analysis and careful forethought/monitoring by a physician.BTW, I was also taking Reboxetine & Selegiline.
It worked REALLY fast. But I ran into some situations
were my heart started racing out of controls. Taking
the beta blocker Inderal stoped those experiences.
It was a dangerous combination.regards,

He says he felt normal for 2 weeks, then the effect went away. It could have been that moclobemide worked and then stopped working, but on a subsequent trial of moclobemide alone ramping up to high doses (900mg), there was no recurrence of this effect. Mirtazapine taken alone also does not work.
