A seizure is basically an electro-chemical short circuit in the brain. There are many types of seizures (some related to eplilepsy, etc). The reason you can seize when stopping Valium is that your body is basically "addicted" to it, or in nicer language, you have "developed a tolerance" to it. Either way, abrupt discontinuance of MANY meds an cause one to seize. This is why you need to taper off meds slowly. Think about an alcoholic drying to stop drinking, if they do so "cold turkey" they will have tremors and other nasty effects. Let me know what else you need to know.
