John, Just personal experience. They *work* great right after you take them, but there is a "rebound" effect they seem to have after they begin to "unoccupy" the D2 receptors, which feels worse than you did before you take them. Even the conventionals would do that to me. I remember small doses of Stelazine would make me feel better for most of the day, but in the evening I would start getting very anxious-like a mixed state, yuck! Of course, this could all just be akathisia. I remember when I took Seroquel-I really noticed it. I would feel pretty mellow during the day and then at nite just before my next dose I would get this "rocketing" like hypomania. So, my pdoc just told me to try to get by without antipsychotics. I know for some that might not be easy to do.
