I have been prescribed clomipramine, but I notice that the capsules are made from gelatine. I have issues about this; 1. Being a vegetarian, I don't particularly want to eat gelatine, and 2. Being in the UK, I am terrified of the possibility of contracting BSE from beef gelatine (there's no proven link, but the idea still scares me.) If even I knew they were made from pork gelatine, it would not be so bad, but, although I e-mailed the manufacturers to ask, they have not replied :(
So, my question is -
Could I simply pour the contents of the capsule out, and perhaps stir it into a glass of water, and drink that instead? Or perhaps wrap the powder up in a lettuce leaf, and swallowed that? Will the efficacy of the medication be affected?Any thoughts are greatly appreciated. Thanks!
