hi. pretty much anything that reduces tension and anxiety without causing too many toxic adverse effects will reduce "depression," as measured by psychiatry's numerous scales. doesn't mean it's a mood brightener.

the 300mgs dose is for some forms of depression...I think the studies were Bipolar I, but I'd guess-timate that it'd work in psychotic (unipolar), agitated, some mixed states, etc. thing is...

when one reads the early, early data on quetiapine, before it became a blockbuster, the big, big, big deal was simply: effective as Thorazine, not as mind numbing and dysphoria-inducing.

since exactly this many-- 0 -- neuroleptics have been shown to consistently, reliably improve 'negative symptoms...'

i'd be hesitant to take one, long term, if my 'depression' involved anhedonia, lethargy, fatigue, lack of concentration, lack of drive and initiative, etc. its also worth noting...

neuroleptic induced dysphoria and neuroleptic induced deficit syndrome both overlap with some forms of 'depression,' so...yeah. yeah. not happy pills. :-(
