First off, if you're not getting enough B vitamins, you probably won't sleep as well. This happened to me. Now, I make sure I get enough vitamins B6, B1, and B12. Other B vitamins may also help, like folic acid and B5. Another vitamin that helps me sleep better is vitamin E. I take 400IU at bedtime and it seems to calm me down. Melatonin might help in some cases. Also, a small amount of vitamin C, say 250mg, may also help especially if you are low on antioxidants. Some people have said that magnesium helps them sleep better. Yes, it has helped me fall asleep, but only in the short term. What is more essential is that you're getting your B's and finding out which B vitamins you may be deficient in. That's the tricky part. The most common deficiencies are with B6, B12, and folic acid, which may affect your sleep. However, you may also be deficient in one or more of the other B vitamins. For example, I need 200mg of B1 (thiamine) everyday for depression and to sleep well. Some people need more B5 or B2. It's really very subjective.
