BPD? Does skin picking = self-harm?...

Posted by Colleen D. on April 2, 2007, at 12:49:26

The more I read about BPD, the more I see myself in the description of people with this disorder before I began taking any psych meds. Low-self-esteem, intense stormy relationships, fear of abandonment and rejection, having been sexually violated in my teens...the list goes on. I have always been a skin picker, and at times I would pick my face or my arms 'til they looked so bad I couldn't go out in public. I have offically been DX'ed with OCD, recurrent MDD and GAD, so I wonder if the skin picking behavior can be a manifestation of both OCD and BPD? I no longer have a pdoc, so I'm looking for an answer here before I read the books I've just ordered on BPD.

Thanks,
Colleen
