My doctor wants me to come in in a few weeks to discuss starting me on xolair for allergic asthma. I've been allergic since infancy and the meds (4 of them) for asthma really don't control it plus they have side effects.
I've been reading about xolair and most indicate little if any reaction other than localized swelling and itching since it's injected under the skin. However, there have been reports of an increase in cancer and some significant sinusitis and headaches. I already have the last two and am very reactionary to many meds. It sure would be nice though to reduce the number of meds I'm taking and feel good if that's possible. Also, I like this doctor.
I notice I'm rather hyper and agitated when I have trouble breathing and sometimes I don't even realize why I'm feeling hyper. Does xolair have any mental side effects? When breathing is well under control I'm definitely more relaxed.
Your input is appreciated!
