I've sworn off fluid milk entirely. The more processed the product, the easier it for me - cheeses are mostly okay (like cheddar or havarti) but ice cream and yogurt are out.

The lactase pills sometimes help, but sometimes they don't so I don't even risk it mostly.

I've learned to appreciate soy beverages. The lactose free milks don't appeal taste-wise anymore, for some odd reason. I suspect it's because I now equate fluid milk with pain, upset and unbearable consequences for a few hours afterwards... Pavlovian dog that I am.
