If nothing else, I've been thinking more about what I put into my body, and how much energy that's expended in converting the food into energy. So, the fruit and vegetables are a big PLUS for me. I'm eating potatoes - baked, not fried, for a change, as my carbohydrate intake. But the lettuce as a head instead of a bag is a humungeous waste saver. Yes, I have to CLEAN the lettuce, but that's probably a good thing, anyway. And I've been checking the sources on the organic produce to see if the stuff is coming in from local farms. (Makes no sense at all to buy organic blueberries if they came in on their own seat from South America.) And the local grocery store produce manager is USELESS. Has NO IDEA where the produce comes from. Wouldn't recognize a ripe cantelope melon if it knocked him over on a savannah. (Which I fully expect one might do.)CS
