Will Abilify substitute for Remeron?

Posted by mtdewcmu on December 6, 2009, at 20:21:39

My current meds are Zoloft, Remeron, Wellbutrin, and Abilify. Remeron is allowing me to tolerate 150mg of Zoloft, which I could not tolerate alone. I assume this is because of its 5-HT2 inhibition.

I am trying to come up with a less expensive drug regimen, because I will soon be paying cash for my meds. I have determined that Abilify is essential, and Abilify, like Remeron, inhibits 5-HT2A and 5-HT2C -- so the question is, can I eliminate Remeron and still be able to tolerate higher doses of SSRIs?

My plan is to switch to a combination of Prozac (which is cheaper than Zoloft), Abilify, and Wellbutrin.
