I am relatively new to the boards. Spent a little time lurking and it seems to me to be a friendly, supportive and knowledgeable place to be. I just posted a couple of messages the other day, and the responses I got were encouraging. I have just gone off Effexor XR (7 days ago) after 6 months on. I was one of the unfortunate ones that it just didn't seem to work for (become increasingly apathetic, unmotivated, anxious and apprehensive). Oh well - if at first you don't succeed . . . . Things can only get better. I am now on Celexa, and am hoping that it will reverse numbing effects of the Effexor. I was only ever put on an antidepressant once before, and that was over 8 years ago when I stopped drinking and stopped abusing over the counter medication and coffee. It was Paxil, worked great and I stayed on it for a few years. Second time around, didn't do the trick, even at a increased dose. Hence the trial of Effexor and now Celexa. Anyways, I won't keep rambling. Just hoping that this too shall pass, and that I will soon be back to my old happy, enthusiastic, energetic self. Thanks for listening.
