New to Effexor XL

Posted by Johnna Jordan on December 12, 2004, at 19:17:19

Hi everybody,
I am new to Effexor XL. I have been on it for about 2 weeks. I have also been on Prozac for about 7 years. I came to feel like the Prozac (generic Fluoxetine 40 mg) just wasn't helping me anymore. I seem to always be down with an occasional manic spell. Very tired and irritable.
So my doc tried Wellbutrin 300 mg's. No change at all after a month. Switched me to 35.7 mg's of Effexor XL for one week and 75 mg's this week. I really can't see any changes yet. I am still tired and moody. Still have lots of thoughts of hopeliness and am usually really down and out. I know it has only been a couple of weeks and it probably takes longer. I guess, I am just expecting a quick resolution to this life time of depression. Also, my main concern is that I am 3 weeks late on my period. There is no way I am pregnant. I have no sex drive at all and have not had sex with my husband for more than 2 months. I also took 3 pregnancy tests. All were negative results. Has anyone else experienced this??

I have a Doc appt. on Friday. So I will talk to her about this as well. Just wondering if anyone else has any thoughts? I am never late so this is uncommon for me. Just a bit worried.

Do you guys think I should give Effexor more time or suggest to my Doc to try something else??

Please help!

Much appreciation,
Johnna
